See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
The pub operates as a bar and grill. The main single split level bar area includes a tasteful lounge area to one side and a separate seating area for diners. This is a Grade II listed building with an attractive Georgian façade, that overlooks the former County court buildings and county gallows (opposite) which were later used as council offices (until 2006).
One of the most famous cases heard at the court was the divorce of Mrs Simpson in Oct 1936 which led to the abdication of King Edward VIII.
